Other (Summer) SchoolsImage and Robotics, Clermont-Ferrand, FranceThe 9th Summer School on Image and Robotics will be held in Clermont-Ferrand from June 23th — July 4th. This summer school can be followed by master student, Phd student or postdoc. We will also welcome academic and industrial partners. Over the 2 weeks, we will address the following topics:
RobotCub, Sestri Levante, ItalyA RobotCub School will be held in Sestri Levante from 21-30 July. Applications must be sent by June 2nd. RobotCub is a project to study cognition through robotics. Along the way, we are creating a completely open design for a humanoid robot - open hardware, open software, open mind. Our hardware designs and software are free and open source. This year's RobotCub Summer School Veni Vidi Vici is organized as a "code sprint" to pull together all the software needed to make a humanoid work — control and perception algorithms for its head, hand, arm, legs, and full body. The school is structured as a series of hands-on practical laboratory sessions, and informal talks. Computer and Robot Assisted Maxillofacial Surgery, Heidelberg, GermanyA Summer School in Computer and Robot Assisted Maxillofacial Surgery (CRAMS) is to be held in Heidelberg from July 21-25. This summer school is aimed at advanced MSc and PhD students specializing in relevant fields. Applications from postdocs and junior researchers will also be considered, but priority will be given to graduate and doctoral students. All participating students are expected: * To attend all lectures and to take an active part in discussions, and * To give a 15-minutes oral presentation in English of their dissertation project. The deadline for applications has now passed. Monitoring and Coordination Across Networked Autonomous Entities, Castle Ebernburg, GermanyA summer school on Monitoring and Coordination Across Networked Autonomous Entities will take place in Castle Ebernburg from August 18-22. Heterogeneous networks of sensors and unmanned vehicles open avenues for a class of novel applications. Tasks ranging from environmental monitoring to user support within emergency-response scenarios require fundamental, multidisciplinary research. The overall goal is to enable the transition towards a cooperative, adaptive and responsive monitoring using networked, autonomous entities. The solutions will comprise an array of devices ranging from inexpensive, tiny, low power sensor nodes, through unmanned autonomous vehicles, and all the way up to resource rich, powerful command stations. Application deadline: June 16. Rescue Robotics, Benicassim, SpainThe Intelligent Robotics Lab of Jaume-I University in collaboration with the Sheffield-Hallam University (UK) will hold a Summer School on Rescue Robotics from September 15-19 in Benicassim. Rescue robotics has emerged in recent years as an active research field, providing valuable assistance in urban rescue tasks after catastrophes (e.g. earthquakes) or incidents like fire or accidents involving hazardous materials. The school, aimed at students with an engineering background, will deliver basic insights about the technology, science, and domain issues that may be instrumental in successfully applying rescue robotics in the real world. Graduate robotics students will have a unique training opportunity in this emergent and fast-evolving domain, closely interacting for one week with some of the top-level researchers in the world in this field, as well as with fellow students. |
