Quotes from EURON Officials

 Henrik I Christensen

Quotes from EURON's Coordinator:

The aim of EURON is to coordinate research, education and industry links across Europe to make it the premier region for economic growth using robotics.

EURON has generated an European cohesion that has enabled the region to become one of the leading players for R&D in robotics.

 Roland Siegwart

Quotes from EURON's (Summer) Schools organiser:

EURON has strengthened the European Robotics community importantly. It forms the basis for taking the lead in this promising and fast evolving field with a huge commercial potential. Imagine that in the future everybody has his personal robots as you have your personal computer or personal car today.

Education is the key for the successful development of Europe. EURON has put a strong emphasis on education at the highest international level. The EURON summer school program has become a model for US and Japan.

Europe has all the competences required to build robots that serve in our everyday life. Through our cultural diversity we have the sensitivity needed to open this new marked to the best of our society.

 Bridget Hallam

Quotes from EURON's Webmaster:

I think that EURON is an exciting way of keeping in touch with what is going on in European robotics -- and of finding useful contacts.

EURON is necessary: Europeans needed some way of keeping in touch with what other Europeans were doing.

American roboticists typically don't look over the Atlantic to see what is going on -- but then that is because there was no central place to look before EURON.

Robotics is a big enough field that there is still plenty of new research to be done, we don't need to be secretive about our discoveries but can benefit from full cooperation.

Sometimes PhD supervisors don't know the field well enough, and their students end up reinventing the wheel.

Quotes from other EURON board members:

"A robot that cannot learn has no commercial future"
Guido Bugmann, Plymouth, UK.

"EURON is the best robotics communication platform we ever had."
Markus Vincze, Vienna, Austria.
