EURON is ...

Research

EURON helps to focus European research efforts towards more productive goals. This happens partly through its community activities which allow us to exchange ideas and techniques, and partly through identifying the topics where research efforts are best spent and advertising them to scientists and policy-makers.

Scorpion from Bremen

A biomimetic eight legged robot

robot scorpion outdoors

The "SCORPION" project is building eight legged all-terrain robots. Control is based on models of two biological control primitives: Central Pattern Generators and Reflexes. The robot can walk in any direction, and can easily change its direction, posture, and speed while walking. The robot has been successfully tested in rough, sandy and rocky terrain. A version of this robot is currently under test at the NASA Ames Research Center.
