EURON IResultsThe objective of the European Robotics Network (EURON) was to provide community integration across the different fields involved in robotics. The integration involved aspects of research, training and education, industrial links, dissemination and links to other communities. Each of these activities was the basis for structured activities to support the community. In addition the effort included a number of ad-hoc activities in terms of interest groups, summer schools and sponsorship of events. The network grew from 70 initial members to a total of 140 members by the end of the contract. The network actively participated in the setting up of a new community programme "Beyond Robotics", it organised 10 summer schools, set up a new book series with Springer Verlag, organised 8 special journal issues, and provided the resources for establishment of repositories related to teaching, dissemination, industry collaboration, and generic community integration. Through the EURON effort a strong community has been established and EURON is today considered one of the international actors within the community. The effort has been of significant value both in terms of research coordination, graduate training, industrial exploitation and general dissemination. A survey of EURON members was also prepared which includes a brief profile of each. Versions are available in plain text and as a collected PDF file. The list of deliverables produced provides a better idea of the scope and success of EURON I, and includes a detailed final report. |
