The objective of the original EURON was to strengthen theEuropean robotics community by improving support, coordination and cooperation between different European robotics researchers, and to spread their information, expertese and experience to a wider audience.

The popular-level 7-side PDF account of EURON-I, dated 20th April 2004, goes into a little more detail.

Results were very positive, providing strong support for the proposal for the follow-up EURON II.
