www.euron.org statistics12th March 2006 to 4th March 2007Between 12th March 2006 and 4th March 2007, around 58,000 distinct IP addressessuccessfully fetched nearly 2 million elements from www.euron.org, of which 464,420 were actual pages and many of the rest pictures. [ Details of request logs... ] The number of fetches is much higher than the number of pages accessed since it includes pictures, css files and the like. However, the number of pages looked at is actually higher than shown in the log files, since retrieving cached versions of pages generates no hits. Access by PageBy March 2007 the web site contained approx 270 "real" EURON html pages (ie, excluding pictures, pdf files, html pages sent in by others and displayed "as is"...) The site was receiving nearly 5,500 successful hits per day on average and transferring around 110 megabytes of data. Of course the home page is fetched most often (c.29% of successful page fetches). Otherwise, only the robot gallery page achieved even 2% of the traffic, due to the large number of choices available. The section index pages and jobs pages are also very popular. After these the distribution is fairly even over a lot of pages. [ Most Popular pages... ] The popularity of the robot gallery resulted in a huge numberof fetches for picture files (32 of the top 50 fetches are robot pictures, and another 5 are icons) Access by CountryAnalysing the IPs from which webpage requests come allows us to see roughly which countries use www.euron.org most. Note that this analysis cannot be accurate, since not all IP addresses have a specific geographical location. [ Country details... ] American IPs account for about a quarter of requests. Germany, Italy, the UK and Spain between them account for another quarter. India, Canada and China also appear in the top 10 countries. "Unclassified" addresses form a much higher proportion of "total fetches" than of "distinct IPs", suggesting that bot and crawler requests come from unclassified IPs. By contrast, "rest of the world" proportion increases when you look at unique IPs, suggesting that many different people worldwide look casually at the site. This idea is supported by the hourly analysis, which suggests that this web site is accessed in many different time zones. |
