Disseminating information worldwide

Website statistics are available for EURON II year 3 (2007-8), year 2 (2006-7), and for Oct – Dec 2005.

Criteria

The criteria for the EURON website were as follows:
  • the site should be kept up-to-date
  • new information should be easy to find
  • the home page should not be cluttered
  • the site should look and behave the same on all browsers
  • the site should not take too long to load
  • the site should contain lots of detailed information for those engaged in robot research
  • the site should explain things so that new students and journalists can use it easily
  • the site should be attractive and look professional
  • the site should be accessible by the blind
  • each page should aim to be only one screenfull

Design

Combining these sometimes paradoxical requirements resulted in the following design decisions:

  • The information required on the EURON site is split into a few (currently five) major sections. Each section is colour-coded to aid navigation.
  • Only headings for these few sections are visible in every page.
  • The right-hand column gives the opportunity for important information to be carried between related pages.
  • The horizontal submenu bar limits the number of possible subsections, forcing a more organised structure.

Getting Involved

We hope that you will get involved in many of EURON's activities and encourage others to do so as well.

Attend Meetings

Attending meetings is an excellent way of making contacts and friends within the community. The Annual Meetings are the major instrument for this purpose.

Communicate

A lot of things are happening all the time in the European robotics community: conferences and workshops are being organised, projects are starting, job offers are announced, etc. The EURON mailing list is the place-to-be for all your communications around these topics.
