Rehabilitation Robotics


An intensive immersion program on Rehabilitation Robotics took place from March 30 - April 4 in Elche, Spain. Three main themes predominated:

  • Fundamental aspects;
  • Robot-mediated therapy;
  • Neurorehabilitation and future trends .

Talks were given by experts from 6 countries, and are availablevia the School website. 48 students from 14 countries attended the school. These students included people from 22 EURON member institutions, and 7 clinicians.

The school was widely covered in both local and national press.

Bayesian Cognition


A Winter School on Bayesian Cognition: Probabilistic models of perception, inference, reasoning, decision, action, learning and neural processing. Chamonix, France, took place from January 6 - 11.

The objective of this winter school was to present the latest advances in this subject, specifically addressing the following topics:

  • Probability theory as an alternative to logic;
  • Probabilistic inference and approximation of distribution;
  • Probabilistic models of CNS functionality;
  • Variational Bayes Methods;
  • Probabilistic Robotics;
  • Probabilistic interpretation of physiological and psychophysical data;
  • Industrial applications;

HRI with Personal Robots


A COGNIRON Winter School on HRI with Personal Robots took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, from January 21-25.

The School discussed the latest findings in the following topics:

  • Interaction design of social robots
  • Concepts for interaction management
  • Learning and imitation
  • Cognitive maps
  • System integration facing real world challenges
  • Evaluation of interactive robots

32 students attended the school and seem to have enjoyed an inspiring, instructive, and cheerful time in Lausanne. Thanks to all who participated in and contributed to the winter school.
