EURON as a ResourceRepresentative organisations have weightEURON is an organisation whose purpose is to facilitate connections between European Robot Research groups, companies, and institutions. This network is itself a resource, providing valuable contacts. Industrial people get to know what University research groups are currently working on, so what is likely to become available technology in the next few years, and what is worth their taking on themselves. Senior people find out who is working in neighbouring research fields, so who to consider as collaborators in joint projects. They also get to meet students from other good institutions, and can head-hunt the best for any jobs they may have available. Students get the opportunity to meet and chat to not only their peers but also to more senior people. This gives an opportunity to impress future employers, to obtain up-to-date information, and to be part of a wider grouping than their own lab. Journalists find out who is the appropriate person to talk to about the different aspects of robotics research, and which people are approachable! Politicians and funding bodies can obtain a more balanced and general opinion than is available from individual people or labs. |
Getting InvolvedWe hope that you will get involved in many of EURON's activities and encourage others to do so as well. Attend MeetingsAttending meetings is an excellent way of making contacts and friends within the community. These contacts are normally interesting, and may also be useful! EURON Schools are aimed at PhD students so are particularly good for people wishing to deepen an already existing interest.
