EURON Annual MeetingsNetworking in actionAnnual Meetings are where we do much of our networking and brainstorming! Obviously, networking is an essential part of a Network, and only some forms of networking work well by email. EURON IIYear 4, Prague, Czech RepublicThe EURON Annual Meeting 2008 took place together with the European Robotics Symposium EUROS-08 in Prague from March 26–28. About 160 people attended. The reviewers had been quite critical at the end of year one (although four of the five have since joined EURON), so many changes have been made and some are still ongoing. The reports had interesting and significant content, the food was excellent, the breaks were long enough to have proper conversations in, the afternoon sessions gave the opportunity for focussed discussion — in short, the meeting was an excellent opportunity to Network. "A thousand thanks" to Antonio Chella and his team. Year 1, Warsaw, PolandThe first Annual Meeting of EURON II was held from 16 - 18 February 2005 in the Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland. EURON's two international advisors, Prof. Hirochika Inoue of Japan and Prof. Lynne Parker of the USA, gave plenary talks. Many of the initiatives from EURON I are continuing in EURON II, and new initiatives are starting. The three other Integrated Projects (IPs) funded under FET FP6, COGNIRON, The Cognitive Robot Companion, I-SWARM, Intelligent Small World Autonomous Robots for Micro-Manipulation, and Neurobotics, The Fusion of Neuroscience and Robotics for Augmenting Human Capabilities were presented in parallel sessions. Many thanks to Cezary Zielinski and all who helped to make the meeting such a success. |
