EURON Annual Meetings

Networking in action

Annual Meetings are where we do much of our networking and brainstorming! Obviously, networking is an essential part of a Network, and only some forms of networking work well by email.

EURON 3

2011, Västerås, Sweden

The 2011 European Robotics Forum will take place in Västerås, Sweden, on April 6, 7 and 8, 2011. The name is new, reflecting the evolution from the Euron Annual Meetings (academics only), over the EURON/EUROP Annual Meeting (co-organisation between academics and industry) towards a fully integrated event. The name Forum also reflects the main purpose of the meeting, namely to offer a forum for discussions, meetings and networking.

2010, Donostia - San Sebastián, Spain

EURON II

Year 4, Prague, Czech Republic

The EURON Annual Meeting 2008 took place together with the European Robotics Symposium EUROS-08 in Prague from March 26–28. Many thanks to Libor Přeučil and his team.

Agenda for the 2008 meeting.

Year 3, Chania, Crete, Greece

EURON's Annual Meeting 2007 took place in Chania, Crete, on 28-29 March 2007. Around 94 people attended. See the talks which are being attached to the programme.

Many thanks to Nikos, Nikos, Konstantinos and their team.

euros06

Year 2, Palermo, Italy

The second Annual Meeting of EURON II was held on Saturday 18 March 2006 in Palermo on Sicily, directly after the first EUROS symposium. About 160 people attended.

The reviewers had been quite critical at the end of year one (although four of the five have since joined EURON), so many changes have been made and some are still ongoing.

The reports had interesting and significant content, the food was excellent, the breaks were long enough to have proper conversations in, the afternoon sessions gave the opportunity for focussed discussion — in short, the meeting was an excellent opportunity to Network.

"A thousand thanks" to Antonio Chella and his team.

Year 1, Warsaw, Poland

The first Annual Meeting of EURON II was held from 16 - 18 February 2005 in the Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland.

EURON's two international advisors, Prof. Hirochika Inoue of Japan and Prof. Lynne Parker of the USA, gave plenary talks. Many of the initiatives from EURON I are continuing in EURON II, and new initiatives are starting. The three other Integrated Projects (IPs) funded under FET FP6, COGNIRON, The Cognitive Robot Companion, I-SWARM, Intelligent Small World Autonomous Robots for Micro-Manipulation, and Neurobotics, The Fusion of Neuroscience and Robotics for Augmenting Human Capabilities were presented in parallel sessions.

Many thanks to Cezary Zielinski and all who helped to make the meeting such a success.

Getting Involved

We hope that you will get involved in many of EURON's activities and encourage others to do so as well.

Attend Meetings

Attending meetings is an excellent way of making contacts and friends within the community. The Annual Meetings are the major instrument for this purpose.

Communicate

A lot of things are happening all the time in the European robotics community: conferences and workshops are being organised, projects are starting, job offers are announced, etc. The EURON mailing list is the place-to-be for all your communications around these topics.
